Latest Happenings....

November 25, 2008

Troop 964 has had a lot of activities happen and a lot more coming up.

First, the events that are coming up are: The Swim and Lock in,
The First Aid Meet, and The Pancake Breakfast.
- The swim and lock in is divided in half this year. We swim
for one day and then have the lock-in at a later point.
- The First Aid Meet is a great event coming up that our troop won last year.
We hope to keep are first aid skills up and win this year too.
- Finally, the Pancake Breakfast (as you may know) is one of the most fun
scouting events of the year. Last year we got compliments from all over
and people flooded in too taste the great food prepared by the cooks.
Unfortunately I will miss this event due to another engagement, but I
understand the troop is ready.

Some events that have happened since the last time I wrote to you are:
The Fall Camporee, The Haunted Hike, and a trip to Kettle Moraine.
- The Fall Camporee was a blast, I have been told, with the basic theme of
astronomy. Here the patrols compete against each other in scouting skills.
Unfortunately our troop didn't place in any of the events, but we competed well.
- The Haunted Hike was also fun with the Order of the Arrow doing a fantastic
job this year. The hike is set up to frighten all who dare to walk the course.
- Kettle Marine I hear was cold. The kids camping out missed their
"FrostFire" patch by one degree. To earn "FrostFire" you must camp overnight
two nights in under 32 degree weather. At Kettle Marine the temperature
was 33 degrees on 1 night. However, the trip was still packed with
fun with a 20 ft. fire and horseback riding.
